Fit is the New Skinny
In case you haven’t noticed, our country (and increasingly our world) has a weight problem. But that picture tells only part of the story - it isn’t the weight that is the problem, it’s the tremendous cost in health (both physical and emotional) that is highly correlated with the weight gain. Metabolic syndrome is the physical cost of collective weight gain – that is the increasing toll of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. But the fact of the matter is that metabolic syndrome isn’t just a problem of weight, it affects those that are ‘skinny’ as well. It is quite possible to be heavy and fit as it is also quite possible to be lean and sick.
The reality is, your doctor and your trainer will help you get fit and healthy, not necessarily skinny.
“Remember, being in shape isn’t about being skinny, it’s about being fit and healthy. Period.”
